Holiday Notes

Local LGBT organizations make a tradition of holiday events.

Holiday Features Tree Local LGBT organizations will mark the holidays with music, shows and parties, and the stories on the following pages serve as your guide to the best that the season has to offer.

Desert Overture is among the musical groups that are building a holiday tradition with their second Christmas concert since the concert band formed last year.

Other concerts will provide heat and light for the winter, as Arizona Women in Tune and Full Circle Women's Choir use those elements for themes for their holiday shows. Meanwhile, the Phoenix Metropolitan Men's Chorus is tuning into the TV show Glee for inspiration for their holiday show.

Christmas trees will be the centerpiece for the third annual Festival of Trees, while teddy bears will be in the spotlight at the Exposed Studio & Gallery holiday party.

Holiday shows range from a piano concert at the annual Community Church of Hope show to drag for the first Sisterzz Twisted holiday event.

Many of the events give back with a charitable element, but there are many ways to give this season, including drives for 1n10 and Logan's Playground. There's no shortage of things to do before the end of the year, and our holiday calendar lists some of the highlights of events all over town.

This section also features one of Phoenix's annual holiday traditions, the F.Q. Story Historic District Christmas Home Tour, with a preview of one of the homes on the tour.

It's also the season for holiday theater and music, so our critics take a look at what's coming to Valley stages and what's available for seasonal sounds.
