1. Washington State looks ready to OK same-sex marriage: After a Democratic state senator announced her support, it appears that there are enough votes for marriage equality to make Washington the seventh state to allow gay and lesbian couples to marry.

2. Independents are open to out candidates: Public Policy Polling finds that 71 percent of Independent voters say they could vote for an openly gay political candidate. Eight percent said they would be more likely to vote in a candidate who is gay.

3. Normal Heart movie will have all-star cast: The Hollywood Reporter reports that Julia Roberts, Alex Baldwin, Mark Ruffalo and Jim Parsons are set to star in the film adaptation Larry Kramer's AIDS drama. Ryan Murphy (Glee) is set to direct.

4. LGBT-themed license plates raise awareness: Car owners in Indiana and South Carolina will be able to show their support for LGBT causes with their selection of a license plate. In South Carolina, part of the fee for the specialty plate will benefit Equality South Carolina. The Indiana plate benefits a youth group.

5. Actor criticizes candidate on LGBT issues: E! Online reports that actor George Clooney says GOP presidential candidate Mitt Romney is on the wrong side of "the final leg of the civil rights movement." Clooney will play lawyer David Boies in a Los Angeles production of a play about the Proposition 8 trial.

6. Actor wins accolades for playing gay man: Christopher Plummer has been nominated for an Academy Award for Best Supporting Actor for his role as an elderly man coming out in the movie Beginners. Plummer won a Golden Globe Award for the role in January.

7. Network cancels comedy featuring cross-dressers: Work It, a sitcom about two men who dress as women to get jobs, has been canceled by ABC after two airings. The show was panned by critics and criticized by LGBT advocacy groups.

8. Comedian comes out on radio show: Todd Glass, who appeared on two seasons of NBC's Last Comic Standing, came out as a gay man during an episode of WTF with Marc Maron.

9. Native American lesbian wins election: Susan Allen, an openly lesbian Native American, has won a special election for a seat in the House in Minnesota.

10. GLAAD lays off staffers: The LGBT media watchdog group Gay & Lesbian Alliance Against Defamation has announced that it's laying off 11 of its 45 staff members due to a struggling economy.    -E
